Why I Won't be Made Mother of the Year

Toothsome #4 is a wild baby. We love her and her wildness and are thrilled that she is so precocious but sometimes, it has its drawbacks. Every morning, she takes a shower with me so I can keep an eye on her. However, she recently has figured out how to climb out of the shower by herself, always waiting until I am rinsing my hair and my eyes are closed to make her escape. Today was no exception, and when I got out of the shower, I noticed a very distinctive smell. Poo smell. She obviously had let one drop somewhere in the house and I needed to find it.

After walking down the hall, down the stairs, into the kitchen and then my great room, I still couldn't find it. Then, I saw toothsome #4 with her back turned to me. She turned around and guess what should I see? A face, hands and mouth covered in baby feces. And yes, she had some in her mouth as well. She has always been a great eater and I guess her tastes just aren't that discriminating. No, I won't be Mother of the Year any time soon.

Well, you'll win before me because that exact thing has happened to me more than once. (Or twice.)

Okay that beats my food coloring in the carpet story! It will make a good story to tell on her when she is older!

Although my children have never touched their own feces, I have a long resume to send into the WORST mother of the year committee... Someday (10 years? 20 years?) We'll look back and laugh, right? (We'd better or I could cry all day!)

Ewwwwwwwwww.

Last week Pedro took off his diaper in his crib and played with his pooh-that was the first time that has ever happened to me. The beauty of latin America is that the maid cleaned most of it up while I bathed the little sicko.

I liked both your pinto bean post and your sun exposure post. I am impressed that you can do so much with a sink. And I'm with you on sun exposure-I wear sunscreen everytime I go out.

Got your comment about Empire falls. I know what you mean, definitely flawed characters in this one. I guess I reccomend it because it is still with me too. And at least I feel better about some of my choices! Paul Newman made it into a movie on cable, my davis county library had it. I think I liked it better than the book although it followed pretty closely. What are you reading next? I am working on peace like a river for tif's book club thing. Like it so far.
